The state Department of Health reported 8,033 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, June 8, bringing the statewide total to 290,652. Eight new fatalities were reported.
A total of 841 new infections were identified Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.
Of those total cases, 9,454 required hospitalization, with 189 currently hospitalized. At least 1,465 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
