An unoccupied, likely unpermitted structure burned to the ground Friday evening in Kea‘au.

The Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the fire around 6 p.m. where the Uau Road structure collapsed under flames upon the crew’s arrival. It was a wood building with a shingle roof.

The structure had no electrical wiring or address. The fire was extinguished by 9 p.m.
