Weekly COVID Update: 1,102 New Cases Reported on Big Island

The state Department of Health reported 8,924 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, May 25, bringing the statewide total to 274,495. Five new fatalities were reported.

A total of 1,102 new infections were identified Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 189,866
Hawaiʻi: 30,377
Maui: 31,796
Kaua‘i: 13,767
Moloka‘i: 1,061
Lana‘i: 735
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 6,893

Of those total cases, 9,060 required hospitalization, with 126 currently hospitalized. At least 1,451 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
