Gov. David Ige

A project to rehabilitate the Kolekole Stream Bridge in East Hawaiʻi received a financial boost from the governor’s office.

Gov. David Ige recently released $700,000.00 in capital improvement project funding for the design and acquisition of land for rehabilitation of the Kolekole bridge on Hawaiʻi Belt Road.

“I’d like to thank Gov. Ige for releasing funding to finance the design and land acquisition costs in order to begin the process of properly rehabilitating the Kolekole Stream Bridge,” state Sen. Lorraine R. Inouye, who represents Hilo, Hāmākua, Kohala, Waimea, Waikoloa and Kona, in a press release. “As part of the Hawaiʻi Belt Road on Hawaiʻi Island, it’s crucial that this stretch of highway with aging bridges is adequately maintained.”
