The Department of Water Supply, County of Hawai‘i, congratulated the nearly 400 Hawai‘i Island schoolchildren who entered the Department’s fourth annual Keiki Water Conservation Poster Contest.

DPS also announced the winners on Friday, May 20.

Open to K-5 students, the contest drew entries from 15 public, private, and charter schools located around the island, along with several homeschoolers. This year’s theme was “Be a Superhero – Waste Zero” to illustrate how using water wisely and reducing wasteful water use is important to help preserve the island’s finite supplies of safe drinking water. Participants created original artworks, and the entries were judged on poster originality, visual artistry, and depiction of the contest theme. Prizes were awarded for the first- and second-place entries for each grade.

All poster entries can be viewed under the “Community” tab on the Department’s website, www.hawaiidws.org.
