The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, May 2, for Big Island summits above the 12,500-foot level.

Periods of freezing rain, drizzle and snow are expected, with total snow accumulations of 2-4 inches possible along with light ice accumulations.

Travel in the advisory areas could be very difficult. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
