Weekly Lane Closures: April 30 to May 6

The state Department of Transportation issued its weekly road and lane closure list for April 30 to May 6. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) OCEAN VIEW

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 83 and 84, Old Māmalahoa Highway and Kapua Mauka Road , on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 108 and 109, Koa Road and Nanaina Lani Place, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and grass cutting.

— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HILO

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 2.5 and 2.7, Shipman Street and Pu‘ueo Street, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Wailuku Stream Bridge improvement work.

2) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, April 30 through Friday, May 6, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

3) HONOMŪ (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. 

4) NĪNOLE

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 17 and 18, Kauniho Road and Government Main Road, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

5) PA‘AUILO

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 32 and 38, Ke Ehia Place and Kalopa Road, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for tree removal.

6) HONOKA‘A

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 44 and 45, Waipahi Place and Kapuna Road, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

— PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) PAHOA

Single lane closure on P‘āhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Hawai‘i Belt Road and Keaau-Pāhoa Road, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of new traffic signal indicators.

2) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Friday, April 15, and Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) —

1) KAMUELA TO HAWI

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 11 and 18, Ualani Street and Hawi Road, on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.
