A Puna man was charged in relation to the theft of a Volkswagen Jetta originally reported stolen on April 27 from a Hawaiian Beaches residence.

Sateki Nisa, 26, was charged with second-degree theft and first-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen’s office stated in a news release Friday that at the time of the alleged offenses, Nisa was on supervised release for another unrelated felony matter.

Nisa remains in custody in lieu of $20,000 bail pending his initial appearance on
Monday in Hilo District Court.
