The U.S. Postal Service is seeking nearly 30 new employees for four Big Island post offices and is providing an opportunity for those interested to apply.

USPS hopes to hire 27 new employees to fill several positions, including city carrier assistants, rural carrier associates, assistant rural carriers and postal support employees at the Kailua-Kona, Kamuela, Kealakekua and Waikōloa post offices and will host a two-day job fair Wednesday and Thursday, April 27-28, at the Kailua-Kona post office located at 74-5577 Palani Road. The job fair will be conducted from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.

The positions have a starting pay range from $18.69-$19.06 an hour.

City carrier assistants and rural carrier associates case, deliver and collect mail along prescribed routes. Assistant rural carriers deliver packages on Sundays and holidays. They might also case, deliver and collect mail and packages on Saturdays. Postal support employees distribute mail and perform a variety of sales and customer support services.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone seeking a fast-paced, rewarding work environment with good pay,” said USPS Workforce Planning Specialist Naupaka Hanchett in a press release. “As outlined in our USPS Delivering for America plan, we’re modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers. In order to do that, we need motivated, dedicated people to join us to deliver for our local communities and our nation.”

Those unable to attend the job fair can apply online.
