Weekly COVID Update: 150 New Infections Confirmed on Big Island

The state Department of Health reported 1,736 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, April 20, bringing the statewide total to 245,035. Seventeen new fatalities were reported.

A total of 150 new infections were identified Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 169,656
Hawaiʻi: 26,651
Maui: 28,804
Kaua‘i: 12,049
Moloka‘i: 962
Lana‘i: 641
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 6,272

Of those total cases, 8,605 required hospitalization with 29 currently hospitalized. At least 1,407 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
