Police: Daniel K. Inouye Highway Is Now Open

UPDATE: Big Island police reported at 11:49 a.m. via a media release that Daniel K. Inouye Highway is now open. The Hawai‘i Police Department thanks the public for its patience.
The Hawai‘i Police Department said at 9 a.m. Tuesday to avoid Daniel K. Inouye Highway due to a current traffic issue.
A vehicle crash near the 17-mile marker on the Hilo side has closed Daniel K. Inouye and will require a detour of traffic for the next two hours. Motorist are advised to use Hawai‘i Belt Road as an alternative route.
