HPD Renews Request for Help Finding Missing Mountain View Man

Joseph David Smithey

Authorities are renewing their request for the public’s assistance in locating a Mountain View man who hasn’t been seen or heard from by his family and friends since late May 2021.

Fifty-three-year-old Joseph David Smithey is described as, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, fair complexion, with red and gray hair and blue eyes.

Hawai’i police ask anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of Smithey to call the department’s non-emergency number at 808-935-3311 or Detective John Balberde of the Area I Criminal Investigation Section at 808-961-2386 or email [email protected].

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
