Flood Advisory for Big Island Issued

A flood advisory is in effect until 7:30 p.m. this evening for Hawaii Island, the National Weather Service stated.

Flooding may be caused by excessive rainfall. Minor flooding may appear on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams.

Radar indicated heavy rain was falling from Waikōloa Village to Kailua-Kona to Hawaiian Ocean View Estates at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Some locations that will experience flooding include:
Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Honaunau, Kealakekua, Kainaliu, Honalo, Kahaluu-Keauhou, Holualoa, Kalaoa, Hawaiian Ocean View, Puuanahulu, Milolii, Kona International Airport, and
Mauna Lani.
