1 Person Dead Following Boating Incident Outside Honokohau Harbor

Authorities are investigating a fatal boating accident outside Honokohau Marina that left one person dead on Monday, April 4.

At approximately 6 p.m., Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Kona patrol officers responded to the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor for the incident, which occurred about 10 minutes outside the Honokohau marina. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class David Graham confirmed to Big Island Now they are working with Hawaiʻi Police Department on the investigation.

HPD is also working in conjunction with the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation.
