The county is notifying water customers in areas near the Wainaku Executive Center in Hilo that they could experience minor issues with their water during an upcoming fire hydrant flow test.

The Department of Water Supply will conduct the flow test between 8 and 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Wainaku Executive Center. Customers along Wainaku Street, between Akahai Place and Pua Lane, and along Kaiwiki Road, between Wainaku Street and Maikalani Street, including any side roads and lanes, in Hilo might experience slightly discolored and turbid water for several hours after the flow test, according to a news release.

Customers are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for their drinking needs until the supply of water is restored to normal.
