19 Motorists Arrested for DUI Last Week

Nineteen motorists were arrested during the week of March 21-27 for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 269 DUI arrests compared with 300 during the same period last year, a decrease of 10.3%.

There have been 173 major accidents so far this year compared with 180 during the same period last year, a decrease of 3.9%.

To date, there were nine fatal crashes, resulting in 11 fatalities (one of which had multiple deaths), compared with seven fatal crashes, resulting in 7 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents is an increase of 28.6% for fatal crashes and 57.1% for fatalities.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
