Big Island Weekly Lane Closures: March 26-April 1

Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation announced weekly lane closures for March 26 to April 1. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Friday, March 25 in observance of Prince Kūhiō Day, unless permitted. Highway 130 special use lanes will not be operational.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

HŌNAUNAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 104 and 106, Tobacco Road and Middle Keʻei Road, on Saturday, March 26 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing.

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 8 and 10, Volcano Road and 9 ½ mile Cp, on Saturday, March 26 through Monday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 21 and 22, Volcano Road and Omeka Road, on Saturday, March 26 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and grass cutting.

HŌNAUNAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

HILO

Right lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) in the northbound direction near mile marker 2.5, Shipman Street and Wailuku Drive, on Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Wailuku Stream Bridge repair work.

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, March 26 through Friday, April 1, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

HONOMŪ (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

HONOMŪ

Right lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) in the southbound direction near mile marker 15.4, Old Māmalahoa Highway, on Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Hakalau Stream Bridge rehabilitation and testing.

NINOLE (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 20 and 21, Poupou Stream and Hawaiʻi Belt Road, on Saturday, March 26 through Monday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

PAPAʻALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 24, Hawaiʻi Belt Road and Papaʻa Loa Road, on Tuesday, March 29 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 24 and 26, Papaʻa Loa Road and Hawaiʻi Belt Road, on Tuesday, March 29 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

OʻOKALA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 28 and 29.4, Kaʻawaliʻi Stream and Niu Village Road, on Saturday, March 26 through Monday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Hawaiʻi Belt Road and Keaʻau-Pāhoa Road, on Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of new traffic signal indicators.

PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3 and 4, near Saddle Road, on Saturday, March 26 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

— AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) in both directions between mile markers 10 and 19, Kaiholena Place and Ilina Road, on Saturday, March 26 through Monday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.
