County crews will be at work on a downtown Hilo street in the middle of next week, meaning part of the roadway will be closed.

The county Department of Environmental Management notified drivers through a press release Thursday, March 24, about a single-lane closure scheduled on Kino‘ole Street between Ponahawai Street and Alenaio Lane in Hilo.

The lane closure is necessary for repairs to existing sewer manholes.

The mauka lane closure will be in effect for the duration of the repair work, which is slated for 7:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday, March 30.

Flaggers will be at the site to provide traffic control. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact Chris Laude at 808=961-8279 or Christopher.Laude@HawaiiCounty.gov. The Department of Environmental Management apologizes for any inconvenience this might cause.
