One Person in Custody Following Hilo Structure Fire
A woman was taken into custody on suspicion of arson following a structure fire in Hilo Friday, March 25.
Hawaiʻi Fire Department received a report of the structure fire on Ohana Place at approximately 2:41 p.m. When crews arrived on scene, they found a single-story home with a basement fully involved in flames.
According to HFD officials, firefighters on scene controlled and extinguished the fire. The HFD fire inspector determined probable cause of the blaze as arson via incendiary.
A female squatter was taken into custody as a suspect in this fire by HPD. The structure was a total loss.
The fire is under investigation.
