Authorities identified a body discovered on the shoreline below the Hakalau Bridge on Wednesday, Feb. 23, as 23-year-old Ron Jon Cacho Pira, of Honoka‘a.

According to the forensic pathologist who performed an autopsy on the morning of Feb. 25, there were no signs of foul play, Hawaiʻi Police Department press release indicated Tuesday. The full autopsy report is pending toxicology results.

Emergency responders discovered Pira after responding to the area shortly before 10 a.m. last week. The body was found on the rocks on the north side of the stream. Area I Criminal Investigation Section personnel responded to the scene and are continuing this investigation, which is classified as a coroner’s inquest.

Police ask anyone who may have seen Pira on the highway near the Hakalau Bridge or in the area late Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning to call the police department’s non-emergency number at 808-935-3311, or Detective Scotty Aloy of the Area I Criminal Investigation Section at 808-961-2381 or email [email protected].
