Jerrylene Kanakanui

A Hilo woman is facing charges of burglary in connection to an incident that occurred at an Alu Street residence on Friday, Feb. 11.

Forty-four-year-old Jerrylene Kanakanui virtually appeared in Hilo District Court on Monday, Feb. 14, where she was charged with first-degree burglary. District Court Judge Jeffrey Hawk maintained Kanakanui’s bail at $25,000.

Court records indicate that at the time of the alleged offense, Kanakanui was pending two unrelated burglary charges, including a Kona burglary alleged to have occurred on Feb. 7, where she was later granted supervised
release over Prosecutors’ objections.
