Hawai‘i Island Weekly Lane Closures: Feb.12-18

The state Department of Transportation announced its weekly land closures for the week of Feb. 12-18. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) KEAUHOU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 117 and 118, Walua Road and Sunset Drive, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and tree trimming.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, 1st Road and Volcano Road, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing work.

2) MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 21, 1st Road and Omeka Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching, tree trimming and mowing work.

3) HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 89 and 90, Papalani Road and Hawai‘i Belt Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

4) HONAUNAŪ (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 90 and 92, Papalani Road and ‘Ohi‘a Malu Road, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 13 and 15, Pua Street and Old Māmalahoa Highway, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

2) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

3) HONOMŪ (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

4) NĪNOLE

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 20, Hanamalo Lane and Hawai‘i Belt Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

5) PAPA‘ALOA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 21 and 22.5, Hawai‘i Belt Road and Koi Loop, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Monday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

— PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Ala‘ili Road, on Monday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 4, near Saddle Road, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Monday, Feb. 14, and between mile markers 2 and 3, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

2) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, near Saddle Road, on Monday, Feb. 14 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) —

1) KAMUELA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 7 and 10, near Kohala Ranch Road, on Saturday, Feb. 12 through Friday, Feb. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.

— PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) —

1) HILO

Closure of single lane at a time on Pua‘inako Street (Route 2000) in both directions near mile marker 0.8, Kino‘ole Street, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.
