Weekly Road Closures: Jan. 29 to Feb. 4

The state Department of Transportation issued the following road closures for the week of Jan. 29 through Feb. 4. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) KEAUHOU

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 117 and 118, Walua Road and Sunset Drive, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing work.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 18 and 19, Volcano Road and Lehuanani Street, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and mowing work.

2) HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 92 and 94, ‘Ōhi‘a Malu Road and Ahe Kolo Place, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 6.7, Kopilimai Road and Kapue Bridge, on Monday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility work.

2) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, on Saturday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

3) HONOMŪ (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

4) NINOLE TO PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 19 and 23, Hanamalo Lane and Hawai‘i Belt Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and mowing work.

— PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement improvements.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 1 and 4, near Saddle Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

2) KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, near Saddle Road, on Monday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, rumble strip installation and other safety improvements.

— AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

1) KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on ‘Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 5, Lele Naia Drive and Kohala Ranch Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.
