The National Weather Service high surf warning remains in effect for west facing shores of Hawai‘i Island, including North and South Kohala and North and South Kona, through Sunday morning.

Surf is expected to peak today then lower to advisory levels Sunday.

A high surf warning means large breaking surf, significant shore-break, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous.

Due to the warning, beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
