Weekly DUI Stats: 26 Arrested on Big Island Roads

During the week of Jan. 10, through Jan. 16, 2022, 26 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant, Hawaiʻi police reported Friday, Jan. 21.

Seven of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Three of the drivers were under the age of 21.

To date, there were two fatal crashes, resulting in two fatalities, compared with two fatal crashes, resulting in two fatalities for the same time last year.

There have been 30 major accidents so far this year compared with 27 during the same period last year, an increase of 11.1%.

So far this year, there have been 50 DUI arrests compared with 64 during the same period last year, a decrease of 21.9%.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
