The National Weather Service issued a high surf warning for west-facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island, to include North and South Kohala and North and South Kona, through this weekend.

The surf will increase to warning levels through tonight.

Large breaking surf, significant shore-break, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous.

Due to the high surf warning, beaches may close without notice. Owners of shoreline property and boat owners are advised to secure property.
