Tsunami Advisory Issued For Hawai‘i

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami advisory for the Island and State of Hawai‘i early in the morning on Saturday, Jan. 15 following volcanic eruption occurred at approximately 6:27 p.m. HST in the vicinity of Tonga.

No evacuation orders have been issued and  the public is advised to stay alert of the situation.

A tsunami advisory is issued when an earthquake has generated a tsunami wave expected to be three feet or less in height when it reaches Hawai‘i.
