A Puna woman is set to appear in Hilo District Court on charges related to a vehicle theft that occurred in the parking lot of Banyan Drive condominium earlier this month.

Twenty-six-year-old Kalannie Ada was charged with second-degree theft, second-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, habitual property crime. Offenses stem from an incident that occurred on Jan. 6 where prosecutors allege Ada stole a Honda CRV from a parking lot.

The most serious offenses, second-degree theft and habitual property crime, are both class C felonies and carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

A review of court records indicate that at the time of the alleged offenses, Ada was pending two unrelated felony cases in Hilo Circuit Court.
