Man Reportedly Exposes Buttocks to Students, Teachers at School in Volcano Area

A man is facing open lewdness charges after exposing his buttocks to teachers and students at a school in the Volcano area on Friday, Jan. 7.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. Hawai‘i police stated they responded to the school after receiving multiple calls of a man, later identified as Nicholas Taylor, 45, of no permanent address, walking onto the school campus during the beginning of recess and exposing his buttocks to teachers and students. He fled the area upon being confronted by school staff.

Puna patrol officers located Taylor a short distance away from the school, where he was taken into custody without incident. After conferral with the Prosecutor’s Office, Taylor was charged with disorderly conduct and open lewdness and his bail was set at $1,000.

He remains in custody pending his initial court appearance today, Jan. 10.
