Kahaluʻu Beach Park and Laʻaloa Beach Park are closed due to dangerous conditions brought on by high surf.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued a high surf advisory for west-facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island through this Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Surf will be higher than normal, shore break, and dangerous currents make swimming difficult and dangerous. Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Beaches may be closed without notice.
