Weather Warning Issued for North, South Kona

The National Weather Service on Monday afternoon issued a Flood Advisory for the North and South Kona Districts through this evening. Rain falling at one to two inches per hour has been reported on the West slopes of Mauna Loa.

A Flood Advisory means local flooding can occur.

Due to the Flood Advisory, the following are issued:

· All residents in flood prone areas are asked to remain alert for flooding conditions.

· Heavy rainfall and ponding can cause hazardous driving conditions.

· Be aware that road closures may occur anytime without warning.

· Do not attempt to cross flowing water in your vehicle or on foot; turn around don’t drown.

The National Weather Service has also issued a High Surf Advisory for East facing shores of Hawai‘i Island from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening. A High Surf Advisory means that waves, shore break, and currents make swimming difficult and dangerous.
