The Hawai‘i Fire Department is looking for a missing fisherman, who fell into the water around 11 a.m. while he was fishing for ‘opihi off Kaiwi Point in Kailua-Kona, the department reported Saturday evening.
The reporting party said he was fishing with the 47-year-old victim when the victim fell into the water. The reporting party said he went into the water after his friend and grabbed him but had to let go when he needed to come up for air. Rescue teams searched for the missing man by sea and air. The Coast Guard assisted in the search, which was called off due to nightfall and will resume Sunday morning.
