The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued a high wind warning for Big Island summits, starting 6 p.m. Friday and running to 6 a.m. Monday.

Southwest winds of 50 to 80 mph with localized gusts over 100 mph are expected. Winds this strong will make driving and walking extremely dangerous. The winds can cause significant damage or injuries.

Be prepared for road closures. Postpone travel to the summits until conditions improve.
