HPD Seeks Big Island Runaway Missing More Than a Week

Hawaiʻi Island Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 17-year-old Makahiki I. Moala, who has been reported as a runaway. 

He is described as having a dark complexion, standing 5-feet, 9-inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with medium wavy/curly black hair with orange coloring, and brown eyes. Moala was last seen in Hilo on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at approximately 1:27 pm, wearing a black baseball style hat, black long-sleeve jacket, black pants, and a blue shirt.

Police ask anyone who may have information on Moala’s whereabouts to contact the department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or Juvenile Aid Section Officer Corey Kaneko at (808) 961-8843. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at (808) 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
