S. Kona Road Reopens After Fatal Car Crash

A portion of Māmalahoa Highway (Highway 11) in South Kona is now open after a fatal two-car crash this morning forced authorities to close the road.

At 6:51 a.m., Hawaiʻi police sent out an email reporting a crash had occurred in Captain Cook in front of Shiraki’s Dry Cleaners. The collision left one person dead.

The victim was dentified as 22-year-old Kevin Kanoa’imipono Gladden.
