A Big Island woman has been sentenced to five years in prison following a hit and run in Kailua Kona last year.

Keola Kama, 30 years old, pleaded no contest to assault and criminal property damage as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

She was originally charged with attempted murder after crashing into two victims riding a moped near Old Kona Airport Park and then speeding off.

Both victims were critically injured as a result of the incident.
