Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works will be paving Kīlauea Avenue between Puainako Street and Lanikaula Street Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 3 from 7 am to 7 pm, weather permitting.
As a result, the intersection of Puainako Street and Kīlauea Avenue will be closed on Saturday. Motorists are asked to use Makaʻala Street or Kahaopeʻa Street as detours when driving both mauka and makai. Kanoelehua Avenue or Kinoʻole Street should be used to detour going Hāmākua- or Puna-bound.
