Big Island authorities are seeking a suspect in connection with an Ocean View theft earlier this month.

HPD has requested public assistance to identify a man sought for questioning following the disappearance of a surveillance camera in Ka‘ū.

About 6:54 am on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, police were called to the 92-8700 block of Highway 11 in Ocean View for a report of a man removing a surveillance camera from the exterior of a business establishment. His image was captured on video surveillance at the scene and general time of the crime.

Police ask anyone who recognizes the man, or may have information about this incident, to call Officer Rodney Kekaualua, Jr., of the Ka‘ū Patrol Division, at (808) 939-2520. They may also contact the department’s non-emergency number at (808) 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at 808-961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers does not record calls or subscribe to any Caller ID service. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
