Police Cite 13 For DUI
Hawai`i Island police arrested 13 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant over the previous week. Three of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.
So far this year, there have been 770 DUI arrests compared with 680 during the same period last year, an increase of 13.2%.

There have been 565 major accidents so far this year compared with 548 during the same period last year, an increase of 3.1%.
To date, there have been 16 fatal crashes resulting in 16 fatalities compared with 13 fatal crashes resulting in 13 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents an increase of 23.1% for fatal crashes, and 23% for fatalities.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island-wide.
