The Department of Water Supply will be conducting fire hydrant flow tests.

One will be on Halekauila Street between the hours of 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021.

This test will affect customers along Halekailua Street between Pohaku Street and East Lanikaula street and between Kanoelehua Avenue and Railroad Avenue including side roads and lanes and South Hilo.

Another test will take place on Shipman Road between the hours of 4 a.m. to 5 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021. This will affect customers between Shipman Road and Kea’au Loop including side roads and lanes in Puna.


The affected area may experience slightly discolored and turbid water for several hours after the test. Customers are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for their drinking needs until the supply of water is restored to normal.
