1,678 New Cases Statewide

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 1,678 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, bringing the statewide total to 62,229. Two new COVID-related deaths were reported.

A total of 214 new infections were identified on the Big Island Sunday.

The state’s two-week average is now 863 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 8.1%. A map documenting new cases by district across all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

Hawai‘i: 7,430
Kaua‘i: 1,243
Moloka‘i: 159
Lana‘i: 131
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 2,135

A total of 3,444 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 589 have died.

To date, a total of 1,848,431 doses of the vaccine have been administered statewide, with 62.6% of the population fully vaccinated at 70.9% who have received at least one shot.
