A high surf advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

The surf will rise six to 10 feet tonight through Sunday impacting east-facing shores of the Big Island.

Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
