The gates at the Old Kona Airport Park will not open in the morning on Wednesday, Aug. 18, and will remain closed for at least a half day to permit safe spraying to control the fire ant population.
The gates will remain closed until the treatment has dried and the park determined safe for use, probably around 11 a.m. The closure will affect the tennis courts, playground, walking path and beach pavilions.
The pool and gym complex will not be affected by this closure.
