The event will take place on Aug. 25 via Zoom with Sen. Laura Acasio of Hilo, Sen. Joy A. SanBuenaventura of Puna, Rep. Nicole E. Lowen of Kailua-Kona, and Rep. Jeanné Kapela of South Kona/Ka’ū.

The free, non-partisan event will be a live moderated discussion for women only, starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m.

Shannon Matson, community organizer, business owner and former candidate for State House in Upper Puna/Volcano, will be moderating this event that will cover topics such as: what it’s like being a female-identifying public servant in Hawai’i at the State level, challenges and triumphs they’ve experienced, how more women can get involved in the process to make positive change in local politics, and why we need more women in public office.
