Elevated bacteria levels were detected during regular testing at Anaeho‘omalu Bay.
Enterococci levels of 137 per 100 mL were reported by the Department of Health. DOH is uncertain about the representativeness of the first sample as this beach has historically met the acceptable beach threshold level, and there is no known source of fecal contamination.
DOH has collected another sample and will provide an update with the results.
Additionally, Old Kona Airport enterococci levels are no longer elevated.
