Waikoloa Evacuation Order

Hawaii Fire Department reports the Mana Road Fire has expanded and the following orders are issued; an Evacuation Order has been issued for the residents and businesses of Waikoloa Village.  The fire has crossed Highway 190 near the 9 mile area and as a precaution a mandatory evacuation is ordered.   

On evacuations and closures; the communities of Pu’u Kapu Hawaiian Homesteads and Waikii Ranch continue under mandatory evacuation orders due to continued fire activity.

Highway 190 from Waimea Airport to the DKI Intersection and the Old Saddle Road are closed.  Stay out of the area unless absolutely necessary so people can evacuate. 

Evacuation shelters are opened at the pavilion at Old Kona Airport in Kailua Kona and Waimea District Park.  American Red Cross and County officials are at these locations to assist.

Winds are forecasted to increase throughout the day and make fire suppression efforts difficult please stay tuned to your radio for updates and changes in fire conditions.
