Brushfire Burning in Southeastern Edge of Big Island
Another brushfire is raging on the Big Island.
The wildfire on Ninole Loop, near Punaluʻu Beach, was reported to the Hawai´i Fire Department (HFD) at around 7 am Friday morning. HFD units were dispatched, including volunteers, to contain the blaze.
The fire is approximately five acres in size and has been 80 percent contained, according to a report from the County of Hawaii, released a little before noon on Friday. There are currently no structures threatened.
Firefighting efforts have to this point mitigated flare-ups or the escape of flames from the containment lines. Motorists in the area are advised to drive with caution.
