With the 2021-22 school fast approaching, the one-way traffic pattern on Waianuenue Avenue will resume on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, and will be in effect weekdays 7:15-8 a.m.

This coincides with the opening of the Hilo High and Intermediate School campuses for in-person schooling for the fall semester. The one-way traffic pattern will begin at the Komohana Street intersection traveling eastbound, or makai, down to Kamehameha Avenue.

Hawai‘i Police Department will be increasing their traffic enforcement efforts during this time to ensure a safe transition back to the one-way traffic pattern. There is a $97 fine for those not obeying the one-way traffic pattern.

Police request the public drive with patience and aloha as the new school year begins.
