A Kailua-Kona woman is facing assault charges after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife.

Thirty-year-old Renette Gasio verbally threatened a 41-year-old on Saturday, July 24, at approximately 4:20 p.m. at a historic building on Ali‘i Drive, according to Hawai‘i police. The victim told police Gasio was swinging a pocket knife at her.

“The victim was able to move away when Gasio threw the knife at her, narrowly missing the victim,” police stated in a press release Monday, July 26. “Gasio then fled the area.”

Kona patrol officers eventually located Gasio and took her into custody. She was officially charged with second-degree assault and is being held in lieu of $2,000 bail.
