An elderly man who suffered a fatal medical condition at Kailua Pier in April died of natural causes, authorities confirmed Friday, July 16.
Hawai‘i Police confirmed 73-year-old Stephen Lacey, of Kailua-Kona, was found by Kona Patrol and Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) officers in the midst of a medical crisis on the Kailua Pier on April 30. He was transported to Kona Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Upon conclusion of an autopsy and receipt of toxicology reports, it was determined that Lacey died from a medical condition and the manner of death was ruled as natural.
